1984 Tokai Love Rock
Anyone who really knows me, knows this guitar. I had been hanging out at McKnight's Music store in Sydney Nova Scotia playing this guitar fairly regularly. One day I walked into the shop and the guy behind the counter looked up at me and said "It's sold". I felt like I had lost a friend. Unknown to me my family had purchased it as a Christmas gift for me and we were once again reunited.
After graduating from high school me and my guitar headed to Ottawa Ontario. One day I came home to my apartment to realize I had been robbed. Missing was my guitar, some electronics and my CD collection. CD's were a fairly new medium at the time and I had a respectable collection of about 200 guitar centric albums that I had documented on a couple sheets of paper. I filled out a police report and was told that my chances of recovering my items was slim to none. I decided to take my list of CD's to all the used CD shops I could find and explained my story to the shop owners. I hunted all the pawn shops for my guitar but it was nowhere to be found until one day I got a lead. I used CD shop on Bank St called me to say someone had brought in my entire CD collection in exchange for $60! I believe at the time a CD was around $20. The extremely honest shop owner had taken a photocopy of the sellers drivers licence so I gave him $60 in exchange for my CD's and the sellers photocopied licence. I handed the photocopy over to the police officer I filed the report with and he quickly got a warrant to search the guys house. Well it turned out to be his Mom's house and the basement was packed with stolen goods. The police called me to say they recovered my guitar but they wanted to hold it in the evidence lockup as a key piece in their case against the thief.
